Course Description

In this course, you will learn and understand the different types of leaders, their varying roles within the sports diversity movement as critical change agents as they actively demonstrate the SDLC’s 5 IDEAL principles.

David "Dirk" Smith, M.Sc., CSCS., SDL

David "Dirk" Smith, MSc, SDL (He/Him) is Compete Sports Diversity's Managing Editor and Associate Education Director . He has a master's degree in sport/exercise psychology and a bachelor's degree in sport/exercise science. Dirk is a 3x national champion and 16x Gay Games medalist in competitive swimming. In addition to his writing, he is a member of the Sports Diversity Leadership Council; organizing workshops and conducting lectures in diversity, inclusion, psychology, health, wellness and sport psychology. Currently based in Cologne, Germany, he also works as a strength and conditioning coach and personal trainer.
