Course Description

The over-arching purpose of this course is to provide you an opportunity to look inward, to recognize differences and behaviors and develop a true sensitivity as to why certain issues are such hot button topics for the LGBTQIA+ community.

David "Dirk" Smith, M.Sc., CSCS., SDL

David "Dirk" Smith, MSc, SDL (He/Him) is Compete Sports Diversity's Managing Editor and Associate Education Director . He has a master's degree in sport/exercise psychology and a bachelor's degree in sport/exercise science. Dirk is a 3x national champion and 16x Gay Games medalist in competitive swimming. In addition to his writing, he is a member of the Sports Diversity Leadership Council; organizing workshops and conducting lectures in diversity, inclusion, psychology, health, wellness and sport psychology. Currently based in Cologne, Germany, he also works as a strength and conditioning coach and personal trainer.
